Trick or Treat!

Trick or Treating 2008 has ended. Fun was had by all. Lots of candy and awesome friends.

Today I decided to just do rock & roll and what did Lily decide? Ya, Belle...again. At least it was in the closet already.

My little sock monkey baby was the cutest!

Lily on the phone.

Lily showing me her first piece of the night. From here on out, she would tell me what each house would give her...some things never change :)

Starting to get cold, but Lily held out just a bit longer. Mommy was already in her jacket!

Mark fell asleep pretty early on. Such a good boy!

Almost done...Lily has her jacket on and we're close to home.

What a fun night! We thank the powers that be that it wasn't as cold as last night. We were glad to get home to the heat, but at least it wasn't near freezing. Lily has a lot of candy and we have a lot of candy left over. I may need to get some Pepto.

Thanks for following our night. We hope you all had a Happy Halloween!

Happy Halloween!!!

Lily was able to dress up as her favorite book character for school this morning. They have a Halloween parade going on then a party after. Junie B dresses kind of crazy and wears glasses, so we did the best we could :) Not bad for a $1 headband and 50 cent glasses. Everything else we had.

Tonight we'll be trick or treating with friends. It should be lots of fun! :)
Happy Halloween Everyone!

Thankful Thursday

I'm thankful for my happy little man. Always smiling.
Keith mentioned that the Titans were undefeated, so I had to get a picture of him in his Titans onesie. Go team! :)

Girl Scouts

Jim and I are now Leader & Co-leader of Lily's Girl Scout Troop. Her troop leader had family issues and had to back out yesterday. At the meeting yesterday, I was able to have another mom volunteer to also be a co-leader and another mom to be the treasurer. I think I'm set!

We had a great Investiture Ceremony last night. All the girls are now officially Brownies! Yay!

I completed the walk thru of the old building today. So we are officially out!

Halloween is in a couple more days! I was really bad and didn't get my Halloween cards out this year. I'm sorry! I know everyone likes getting those. Forgive me :) I've been a bit busy and by the time I got home to take the picture, it was too dark outside. I'll post Halloween pictures this weekend.

Love to all!

The Weekend

This weekend was extremely busy for us. Mark was not feeling well, but Jim and I committed to volunteering at the Zoo. We volunteered Friday, Saturday and Sunday. Grandma Judy helped babysit as well as our good friends Laurie & Brent when the zoo asked us last minute to work Sunday evening. We work the hayride which is probably the most popular station during the Halloween event. I was able to get tickets so Carl could take Lily in the zoo on Saturday for free.
I *was going to wear the costume in the pictures a few posts down, but Jim called me about 2 hours prior to me leaving work and told me it was way too cold for that costume. He went and bought me pink sweats and bunny accessories. The picture below was just about the end of that cold night. I was freezing even in my sweats. Saturday I was smarter...I wore 2 pairs of tights underneath as well as 2 long sleeve shirts and long underwear. I was nice and toasty on that 40 degree night.

Always Smiling

Mark has had a rough couple of nights. We've been up since 2:00 a.m. last night. He finally fell asleep for about an hour this morning. He isn't able to breathe and now he's running a fever. That doesn't stop him being happy. He is the sweetest baby. You can tell he doesn't feel well and I can hear his congestion as he tries hard to take a breath. Lily is at grandma and grandpa's and Mark and I are trying to do laundry. He definitely prefers for Mommy to hold him, so it makes it a bit difficult to get the chores done. But that's ok! We've been playing games and when his fever went up again, I put him in a cool bath.

We are having a nice day at home together. I just wish he felt a little better. I wasn't able to get into the dr, but they told me to watch him closely this weekend. I'll be taking him Monday if he's fever continues.

My office move is near complete!

I moved my office yesterday from the Ghetto of Nashville:

To a beautiful building near downtown.

The journey that led us to this beautiful building was far from easy, but it was well worth all the stress i've been under.
Having my awesome friends who let me vent to them anytime, my awesome ability to focus on the good things and let the stressful things go to the back of my mind, shopping for nothing in particular, my margarita
or two....
The fact that we're in an area that is 100 times safer and 1000 times prettier, it was all worth it.
Next week I have goodwill coming to pick up my old furniture. I'm also responsible for patching the holes in the wall and removing all nails, cleaning the carpets and removing the blinds. I should have everything done by Thursday and I'll be rid of that old building for good.
Yay!!!

A look into an evening with the Morgans

Lily brings homework home everyday. Whether it's to complete a workbook, vocabulary words or spelling, Lily also has to read one book every evening. We are a pretty busy family and usually go out to eat. By the time we get home, we have our routine. We have Lily do her homework and then start reading her book. She has to read it three times. Mark eats around 6 p.m. and will go to sleep somewhere around 7:30 or 8:00. Around 7:30, Lily will take her vitamins and brush her teeth, but before that, she'll sometimes read a book to Mark. I try to make sure I read to Mark at least once a day and Lily is such a good big sister and does it for me sometimes.

Sorry the pictures are a bit blurry, they kept moving around.

Fabulous Weekend!

We had a great weekend! Saturday was a Halloween/Surprise Party for one of my best friends, Laurie, then Sunday we met up with some friends and went to the pumpkin patch. Mark was a bit unhappy on Saturday night, so I didn't get very many pictures. I was holding him a lot of the evening. I know my friends took lots of pictures, so as soon as I see those I will post them for you to see!

Sunday we went to the Pumpkin Patch. It was great fun.

Lily had fun feeding the goats, and...
climbing the mountain of hay, and...
swinging on the tire swing, amonst many other fun things!

Mark had fun eating the hay.

It was a fun day. After we left the pumpkin patch, we went to Red Robin and had lunch.

Parent/Teacher Conference

Prior to leaving work to attend Lily's parent/teacher conference I called Lily to see what she scored on her test and make sure if anything happened I was prepared. She told me she scored 100% on her reading test, but they moved her down a level in reading. There is a long back story that goes with this one, but to make a long story short she tested at a third grade level, but the teacher had her start at 2nd grade level. She's been getting all 100% on her tests, but the night we had girl scouts, she rushed through reading it and scored a 60%. I mean yea its bad, but everyone is entitled to have their bad days. So instead of rewarding her (which she has never done) for getting 14 100% in a row, she moves her back for getting 1-60%. So, as you can imagine, I was pretty upset and ready to tell her where I stood on that issue.

She started off by telling us Lily was very smart. She's always the first one with her hand up and she always has the answers. The only negative thing she said about Lily was that she rushes through things. She could get everything correct if she slowed down just a bit. She first started talking about her reading. She said she isn't worried about her progression. She was way above the class level as far as reading went. She said she even was moving her up a level or should have. This is when I mentioned to her that she moved Lily down a level. So, we talked about it in detail. She said each score that Lily didn't score 100% on, which is about 3 in total, she could have if she just slowed down. Ms. Maddox apparently left class for 3 weeks and handed it over to a student teacher, so she has been out of the loop. I was worried Lily wasn't being challenged at all. Ms. Maddox assured us that things are going to change.

We finished the meeting on a very high note. She mentioned many times how smart Lily was. She also said she may be speaking out of turn, but she thinks Lily is a gifted child. She said they don't test for it in first grade, but recommended I test her next year and get her in extra classes if she tests well. She said Lily just gets it and gets it fast. She memorizes and remembers things really well. If they don't have a teacher's aid in the room, Lily is the one she asks to help the other kids with reading or the computer test. She just needs to slow down.

So all in all, I was very happy with the meeting. The teacher isn't as hard as I thought she would be. I'm not sure if Lily is gifted, but I'm glad she recognizes that Lily needs extra attention or maybe extra work to do.

Thanks for keeping up with our family!

Halloween costumes!

After searching for the perfect costume for Mark, we finally found it!
Yep! A sock monkey! How cute is he?! :)

Which one is the baby? hehe
Lily on the other hand still hasn't figured out which of the 3 costumes she would like to wear. She has her red flapper dance costume, her angel costume and she may want to be Alice in Wonderland. So many choices!

My two beautiful children!

Tomorrow is parent/teacher conference. Hopefully I'll hear all good things!
Until tomorrow...have a pleasant evening.
Night!

How is it Wednesday Already??

Wow! Every week seems to go by that much quicker than the last!

Happy Wednesday Everyone!

Last night Lily had a girl scout meeting. I'm not sure if I mentioned before, but I was almost begged to help out as a leader, so I was there with her. I taught them about friendship and how important it is to be a good friend. We made friendship bracelets and gave them homework to find a lonely child at school and befriend them. They will be earning the Friends are Fun patch at the next meeting. Jim thinks I kind of took over the meeting, but Tammy seemed to want me to be the talker. :) At least i was having fun!

Tonight I will be helping Lily clean her room (yes I'm a pushover) Honestly she did a good job, but I'm just sick of things being on the floor. I want her to focus on her school work and I'll take care of her room during the week. That's how I look at it anyway.

This weekend I'm throwing a Halloween Party! I need to get the kids and Jim a costume for it. Should be a fun time!

Not much else going on here!

Time to sign off and let corporate take over my computer for an hour.

Love to all!

Fantastic Friday!

Yay! It's my favoritest day!!! Nothing can bring me down today! :)

I dropped my CRV off to the body shop this morning. They were able to stay below my cut off mark from the claim department so I didn't have to go anywhere else. I'm now driving around in a nifty Corolla. Possibly a little cramped in the back for the kids, but it will be fine for about 5 days. It's white and brand new...even has that new car smell. Mmm...

Tomorrow I am dedicating my day to cleaning my house. I've decided spring cleaning will come in the fall this year. It's time to drag a carpet cleaner around again too. I haven't had a chance to since the baby was born. I know, yuck. :)

I get Lily back from Carl's on Sunday. Yay! I sure miss her. Hopefully the house will be all finished and we can enjoy a nice family day playing.

Hope everyone else has a fantastic weekend!

Love to you all!

Wednesday news...

Nothing much going on today. Lots of work and not much play :) Still working on moving my office. Two short weeks left!

Tonight I get to go to the Honda dealership and check out the tire I need to buy. Hopefully its fine so I can cover up that awful dent :(

Lily is enjoying the week with Carl and Mark, Jim and I are taking it easy.

We went out for a birthday dinner with Grandma Judy last night. She took us all to Omni Hut. It was very nice.

So far this weekend I will be cleaning my house! It should be fun :) Luckily Mark doesn't need much to be happy, so it's my chance to get things done!

Hope everyone has a great week!
